Sustainability
Upcycling for the win
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, upcycling is:
"reusing (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original"

Nutritious waste materials as ingredients
By using brewers spent grain and brewers yeast as ingredients it means we don't have to farm other ingredients, thus reducing our carbon footprint.

Locally sourced ingredients
Our flour and linseed is sourced from farms in close proximity to our baker, thus minimising our impact on the environment.
Carbon neutral ovens
Our biscuits are baked in carbon-neutral wood-fired ovens.

Sustainable packaging
Our box is made entirely of cardboard, which is much more widely recycled than plastic, and more reliably disposed of than compostable packaging. The Bix are packed directly into the letterbox-friendly box, which means it minimises packaging and minimises postage costs.
Carbon Offsetting
After doing all the above to minimise our carbon footprint, we worked with a sustainability consultant to measure how much carbon was created in order to create a box of Bix. We then (and will continue to) offset twice that amount, making our boxes of Bix carbon negative. Therefore, by buying this box you are helping to remove carbon from the earth's atmosphere.
